What is NCFS?

Nebraska Citizens for Science (NCFS), formerly known as the Center for the Advancement of Rational Solutions, is a civic organization operating under the Nebraska Nonprofit Corporation Act.

What does NCFS do ?

NCFS is dedicated to educating the public on the nature and importance of science. Our organization works tirelessly to:

  • Promote public support for science education at all levels.
  • Advocate for scientific research and innovation, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based findings.
  • Encourage the impartial use of science in the formation of public policy decisions.

One of our key initiatives is the Lincoln Forum on Science and Religion, which seeks to reconcile diverse religious viewpoints with mainstream scientific understanding.

In addition to our educational efforts, NCFS organizes major public events aimed at raising awareness about science issues that impact public policy. These events, often in collaboration with other organizations, research institutions, and community groups, aim to foster a deeper understanding of how science influences policy decisions on topics like climate change, public health, and technology.

Our Core Values:

  • Evidence-based thinking: We advocate for the use of the best available scientific evidence to guide public policy decisions.
  • Inclusivity in science: We support initiatives that promote science in a way that respects diverse viewpoints and encourages open dialogue.
  • Public engagement: We believe that informed citizens are crucial for a thriving democracy, and science is a key tool for helping the public make informed decisions.

NCFS stands as a bridge between scientific communities and citizens, providing a space for education, debate, and collaboration. We encourage everyone to get involved—whether by attending our forums, participating in our public events, or simply staying informed about the scientific issues that matter most.
